The Nose, on the prow of El Capitan, is one of rock climbing’s most iconic routes, in the heart of Yosemite Valley. First climbed by Warren Harding’s team in 1958, then climbed “clean” by Royal Robbins’ team in 1960, The Nose is 2952 feet of inspiration and challenge for climbers across the world.

This winter, The Crag is inviting you to climb El Cap, without the cost of a single plane ticket!

The El Cap Challenge is a 6-week fitness challenge incorporating rock climbing, fitness classes and events at The Crag for climbers of all fitness, experience and ability levels, beginning January 1. Each time you complete a climb or an activity, you’ll gain distance up The Nose. Finish the route by February 16 to win a finishers’ shirt and be entered into a drawing to win a $100 pro shop gift card and one month Premium Membership!

Along the way you’ll have the opportunity to earn bonus points by climbing with a friend, participating in a bouldering competition or taking a fitness assessment with Nashville Strength Company. So grab a buddy, grab your gear and head towards Yosemite Valley by way of The Crag!

The best way to participate in the El Cap Challenge is to become a Premium Member. Check out our Premium Membership sale, going from January 1-7!
