The Belay Class covers all the basics of belaying: getting to know your harness, the belay device and how it works, tying into the harness, as well as how to correctly belay for, catch and lower a climber. Participants must be 14 or older or have prior management approval to take this class.
Class size is limited to six participants. Due to class size, advanced reservation is recommended, but not required. Call or email us today to schedule your belay class.
Perfect for the new climber, Climbing 101 is the next level of climbing instruction for climbers who have already taken the Belay Class. The hour-long lesson covers essential skills for new climbers: climbing vocabulary, basic footwork and body positioning, hold management, plus tips for advancing to the next level of climbing.
Lead Climbing 101
Curious about lead climbing but don’t know where to start? We can help you get on the sharp end with this two-hour class. You’ll learn how to climb and belay on lead as well as efficient clipping technique. Participants must be belay certified at The Crag. For climbers who don’t have climbing gear, we have gear available for you to use during the class. Once you’ve taken the class, ask about our Sport Climbing gear package. It includes everything you need for outdoor climbing at a bundled price. A minimum of 2 people are required for the Lead Climbing class.
Lead Climbing 201
Ready to head outside on your own? Lead Climbing 201 course will have you ready! This two-hour class teaches the basics of outdoor climbing: building anchors, cleaning a route and rappelling. Participants must be belay and have taken Lead Climbing 101 in order to take the Lead Climbing 201 class. For climbers who don’t have climbing gear, we have gear available for you to use during the class.

Outdoor Guided Climbing
We offer regularly scheduled, guided climbing trips to area crags such as Kings Bluff, Foster Falls, Stone Fort and Jackson Falls. We provide all necessary climbing equipment including harnesses, helmets, shoes and ropes. Climbers who have their own equipment may use gear that passes our inspection. You don’t need any prior climbing experience or instruction, only a desire to try an adventurous new activity! Group trips are available for climbers 8 & older.
