We’re one week away from the start of our Spring

We’re one week away from the start of our Spring Para Festival and we have all kinds of chances for you to get involved as both a climber and a volunteer.

Thursday 4/11–Get trained as an adaptive climbing volunteer with @catalyst_sports, one of our route sponsors.

Friday 4/12– Learn how to routeset for para climbers, try new climbing games with author @haileycassie, or take a para strength training workshop with CPT @instabob75 who also happens to be one of the event organizers and gold sponsors!

Saturday 4/13– Adaptive Morning Yoga and the Para Climbing Comp! We also have a few scholarships available for the comp!

If you’re looking for some movements to mix up y

If you’re looking for some movements to mix up your ground warm up routine, give these a try!

🌵Cactus arms from any standing position can open up the chest and warm up the shoulders. Here we see it added with a lunge to get the hips and thighs working.

🥷Humble Warrior gets deeep into the hips so you don’t need to stay for long. Clasp your hands behind your back for more chest and shoulder openers.

🦎Lizard Lunge is great for hips, and you can even move into a hamstring stretch or an opening twist from here.

⭐️ Wide Leg Forward Fold to get into the hamstrings and glutes.

4️⃣ Figure 4 Chair Pose— your glutes and piriformis will thank you for this one. A good quick stretch you can get into from a standing position.

None of these poses need to be held for long when used as a warm up. Remember that movement is important and don’t forget to warm up on the wall too!

He’s enjoyed being a part of our apprenticeship program and learning with the team, "I like how I am learning about all the perspectives about what goes into routesetting for the community."

Meet our newest Apprentice Setter, Maddie! Maddie has been working through our apprentice program to learn more about routesetting. Through this program she’s been able to learn the fundamentals of routesetting with our team. “I really enjoy having a positive space to learn and improve each week while I gain confidence in my setting!”

Our programs are growing and we need more coaches!

We are looking for all levels of experience from novice to pro, to teach to both our youth and adult programs. From teaching our upcoming summer camps to being a competitive team coach, if you are passionate about climbing and enjoy working for youth we want to hear from you! We are also always looking for knowledgeable climbers who are interested in instructing our adult classes.

Attention all Para Athletes! The Crag is hosting our first ever Spring Para Festival with a competition to top it all off. 🥇

In the days leading up to the comp, we’ll have USAC professional setters Aaron Davis (L4) and Nohl Haekel (L5) come in to instruct a para routesetting clinic, as well as workshops to work on strength training, yoga, and games and skills.
