Weekend Inspiration: Yosemite

Yosemite.

The word alone elicits a reaction from climbers and adventure seekers across the globe. From El Capitan to Half Dome, Yosemite National Park is 1200 square miles of wild beauty in the heart of the Sierra Nevadas. Granite monoliths reaching toward the heavens, split by waterfalls that carve the stone and feed the meadows beneath. Yosemite is an outdoor mecca, or as John Muir put it:

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike.”

     John Muir, The Yosemite

She may be on the other side of the country, but she inspires us nonetheless. This October, Yosemite National Park celebrates its 125th birthday. We can think of no finer tribute to her beauty and wildness than this video by Project Yosemite. If you haven’t seen the first of their videos, be sure to check it out as well, and if you’re on Instagram and want a daily dose of awesome, be sure to follow Yosemite NPS.
