We’re starting a new monthly highlight on our IG called “CLIPPED IN” where we spotlight some of our favorite neighborhood businesses that are true staples in our Crag community! This month we wanted to shoutout one of our all-time favorite places to get delicious coffee and amazing food @subculturecafe.nash

Subculture is located just across the street from our Nashville gym! It’s one of the first places we recommend to any of the climbers in our community who want a spot to hang and eat after their sesh 🤝

Our Adult Beginner Series is about to kick off nex

Our Adult Beginner Series is about to kick off next Monday in Nashville! This 6 week series is set up to help new climbers learn everything they need to know to have a solid grasp of the sport of climbing. With focused attention, we’ll go over beginner climbing techniques, belaying, terminology and movement all while integrating you into this wonderful climbing community here at The Crag 🤝🥰

Friday, November 1st we’ll be hosting an extra spooky Climbing Comp at the Franklin Crag!! There will be a COSTUME CONTEST, PRIZES and lots of CANDY 🍬
Also, T-Shirts will be available for purchase night of the event!!

The Crag’s Youth Recreational Climbing League is

The Crag’s Youth Recreational Climbing League is a great starting point for any young athlete interested in climbing. This 1 day per week, 9 week program is great for climbers just starting in the sport or are wanting to explore organized training. The curriculum of the program focuses on technique and endurance, giving climbers the basic tools they need to progress in the sport.

Sign up for the Youth Rec League happening in Nashville on Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 6PM and in Franklin on Wednesdays and Fridays @ 5:30PM!

If you’ve ever been interested in learning how to Belay, we’ve got a special Belay Class happening every Monday of October in Nashville! Pick up a new skill and open yourself up to the world of belaying ☺️

In this class you’ll learn:
🧗The standardized belay system PBUS - Loading the belay device
8️⃣The figure 8 follow through knot
🤝Tying the climber in using the figure 8
👷How to perform safety checks and proper gear fitting
🧤 How to catch falls and descend your climber properly
✨Both assisted and unassisted belay devices

Huge shoutout to Michael Kidder for all that he’s done to help facilitate and grow this amazing climbing community at The Crag!

“I climbed at The Classic Rock which is what is now the Franklin Crag as early as 1999 which explains the grey hair. At some point I decided that owning a climbing gym was the next step in the evolution of my climbing journey. When we purchased it in 2008 I was part of the conversation and we were always going to look into building in Nashville and Franklin. So here we are 2 gyms, years and years later. It’d be silly to stop at just 2 gyms!

Climbing has been a huge part of my life. Being a business owner in the space has its ups and downs (pun intended) but being a climber I think the reason I do it is because it’s a challenge and in the middle of that there’s this very supportive community of people no mater where you go.” - Kidder
