Climb Time Tunes – Summer Jams

summerjams

Everything about Summer is bigger. Blockbuster movies, epic road rips, and big sounds. The Crag staff assembled a Summer-sized playlist that you’re sure to enjoy.

Newton – Trying To Be Cool (Phoenix), Left My Wallet In El Segundo (A Tribe Called Quest), Cold Beverage (G. Love and The Special Sauce)

I chose songs that remind me of a time when summer meant cutting loose, relaxed responsibilities, and hanging out with friends nonstop. Things are different now, but these songs take me back there a little bit, thinking about where my wallet went while enjoying a cold beverage while trying to be cool.

T.K. – Hank Is Dead (Red Fang), Cold Night (Chuck Ragan and Austin Lucas), Hold On (Time Armstrong)

Some of my best memories have taken place on a summer evening. Whether my friends and I are looking to get pumped, chill out on a porch, or sing songs around a camp fire, these songs cover all the moods that summer brings.

Matt – Red Wine, Mistakes, Mythology (Jack Johnson), Sideways (Santana feat. Citizen Cope), Light of Day (Big Gigantic)

Tank Tops, road trips, and blasting music really loud. My list consists of some of my favorite jams that I always bump when I prepare for my Summer days and enjoying what adventures await my day.

Ben – Knee Deep (Zac Brown Band feat. Jimmy Buffet), Colorado Bluebird Sky (String Cheese Incident), It Don’t Matter (Donavan Frankenreiter)

These are some laid-back, easy listening songs that I frequently play during Summer months. Songs like these are good for long road trips and hanging out on a lake or river.

Dylan -Abram (Jose Gonzalez), Distress Signal (Tigers Jaw), Dreamgirl (Dave Matthews Band)

Summer is a time for listening to music that just makes you feel good. The sun is out and the adventure is out there. These are a few songs that I feel would perfectly accompany any adventure you may take this summer.

Natalie – Always (Panama), Play It Right (Sylvan Esso), Hurricane (MS MR)

I love “Play It Right” because it starts off as a beautiful little harmony and you think “aww well this is lovely, sounds sorta like Fleet Foxes” then BAM it gets dancey and fun. I’m diggin’ “Always” right now because it once again makes you want to dance. What screams summer more than dancing? I chose “Hurricane” to share my love for MS MR. That love is real.

Christi – Three Little Birds (Bob Marley)

This is the only song I need in the summer.

Ryan – Somebody Told Me (The Killers), Nellie (Dr. Dog), Don’t You Evah (Spoon)

I definitely chose these songs because they are PERFECT for driving with the windows down and sunglasses on.

Alaina – Long Hot Summer Night (Jimi Hendrix), Swimming Pool (The Front Bottoms), Green River (Creedence Clearwater Revival)

These songs remind me of the way that summer should be: a mix of fast paced and care free. I think it’s good to stay busy, but I also think a good dose of spontaneity is key to making that busy-ness enjoyable. Also, all these song titles sound summery.

Jonathan – Happy Ending (MIKA), Youth (Daughter), MK Ultra (Muse)

These songs all remind me of long days spent admiring nature. They make me want to relax and enjoy sunshine. In all, they give me that happy feeling i enjoy being reminded of during the summer.
