Kalissa Finn was first introduced to The Crag through Lipscomb’s Rock Climbing Club 4 years ago. Since joining the club her freshman year she’s become the president of the club and one heck of a climber!

OK.. So you’re in a sit start with two penny sized crimps. The first move is a paddle dyno, so you wanna gain some momentum! Then you’ve gotta super high heal hook which brings you to a good position for the mantle. From there you basically just need to push up, release the leg and stop the swing. That’s pretty much it. Oh! and it’s a V3....

Train for climbing like a champion! ... by playing fun little climbing games 😉 This one is called “Add On” where you essentially pick a random start hold and continue to “Add On” holds until you reach your desired finish! It works for groups and solo if you’re looking to create a little puzzle for yourself. For this video we played with “free feet” so we could use whatever footholds we needed!

Open yourself up to the world of rope climbing by checking out our Belay Class on Thursdays and our Lead Climbing 101: Clipping & Lead Belaying course on Mondays and Saturdays taking place all at The Crag Nashville!

These courses are an amazing way to get comfortable with all of the gear, techniques and safety checks required for rope climbing! The Lead Climbing 101 course will require that you are Top Rope Certified at The Crag, so just make sure to go through that process first!

Every so often you might notice some of our setting may feel a little bit more ‘compy’ rather than ‘commercial’. We try to offer a wide variety of climbs for our members and we love to toss in a few routes here and there that are designed with competition climbing techniques in mind!

One of our setters, Hunter, works also as a coach for our competitive climbers here at The Crag and loves helping push our team to new heights! Watch above to see some of the main differences between a ‘commercial’ route and a “comp” route 🤝

Starting Wednesday, March 19th we’ll be hosting

Starting Wednesday, March 19th we’ll be hosting our Adaptive Recreational Climbing League in Nasvhille! This 1 day per week, 9 week program is great for climbers just starting in the sport or are wanting to explore adaptive climbing. The curriculum of the program focuses on technique and endurance, giving climbers the basic tools they need to build confidence in the sport.
