John began climbing at The Crag back in February o

John began climbing at The Crag back in February of this year! His energy and warming presence has quickly become a staple at the gym. At 66 years-old, he’s found a new adventure sport and a community that has fully embraced him.

“I’m 66, so I came here and I’m different. I’m older. I believe I’m one of the oldest members at The Crag or at least the oldest person that comes here and to be accepted… Tyler is 16 and he’s become a dear friend.” - John Fellenstien

“We met at the Adult Beginner’s Series. It was a 6-week thing and we just had a great time. And we’ve been climbing normally every Sunday. We did the Lead Climbing together.” - Tyler Warren

In addition to Adult Beginner’s Series, John has also done our Adult Ropes League and now volunteers with Para climbing events.

“It’s wonderful that Hailey has also gotten me into the Para Fest and I’ve been helping with that. In December they’re having Nationals down in Birmingham and I’m planning to go and help with that with a local representative of Catalyst Sports.

There’s all of this competition, but it’s everybody against the wall and they all help each other. It’s not like I want to beat you, it’s I want you to do your best and you want me to do my best.” - John

Bring Non-Perishable Items — Drop off donations in the collection bins at either Crag location.
Make a Monetary Donation — We’ll have the link on our website and up in Stories - The Crag will use all collected donations to purchase food items to deliver directly to Food Pantry.

Walking into the gym and seeing this smiling face at the front desk is sometimes all you need to send your project 🥰 Lorelei has been climbing at The Crag since our Nashville location opened in 2017 and started working with us about 2 years ago!

“My older brother is a routesetter here. And I was like, ‘Jacob, do they need people to be hired at The Crag?’ And 2 years later, here we are!

I honestly really enjoy meeting all of the people. It’s so nice to talk to all of these different personalities and get to know where they’re coming from. A few of the youth team kids that we have now, I’ve known them since they first started coming in on day passes. It’s nice to see how much they’ve grown as climbers in this program.

I appreciate all that The Crag has done for me in my life. They’re definitely a good employer to work for especially for me starting a full-time position being younger.” - Lorelei
